So Simple
Everyday I compensate
For my age, my health
And my spirit
So much time to spend
Just maintaining
That which I inherit
Nature, society and humanity
Blessable awareness (of mortality)
And the choice of dignity
Feeling the love
Promised in Heaven
Not from above
But in the le[a]ven
A constant return
For gettin ‘in the givin’
An Atheist’s ‘Golden Rule’
What’s yours?
Rough date: Wed 2/29/2012
I was once upon a time
A runner
Young and strong and driven
In a straight line
Bejaggered by nature and society
Desperately trying to understand
Pressed ever forward
Seeking meaning in life
Seeking to survive
Seeking to live better or well
Seeking each the nature of our soul
I’m older now
Much older
And hardly now
A pedestrian
Age delivering infirmity
A new perspective
Once I was an infant
Just discovering the lines
Between shadow and light
I’m now less aware of detail
Feeling out broader perspective
Even infirmity delivers revelation
They say a person dies 3 times, once when their heart inevitably stops, again when their remains are given back to nature, and one final time when their name is read for the last time…
That last ones not going to happen for a very, very long time. Promise.
